Meet Dhiraj Takri, the viral sensation and a content creator from the serene village of Chitrakote in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district. Armed with just his smartphone, Dhiraj has become an internet sensation, teaching conversational English in a way your school never did. His Instagram bio, “English that your school never taught you,” perfectly captures his unique approach.

We caught up with Dhiraj to chat about his incredible journey and the launch of his super cool merchandise line.

Q: How do you come up with ideas for your engaging and quirky video edits?

Dhiraj: I watch reels and YouTube videos. Whenever I find something really interesting or funny, I save it. Then try to incorporate those ideas into my own content to keep things engaging and fun for my audience.

Q: What’s the most rewarding feedback you’ve received from your followers?Dhiraj: One of the most rewarding feedback I’ve received is when people ask me to write my own book. It’s kind of motivating, and I’ve actually started working on one. Another great suggestion was to add English subtitles to the parts where I speak Hindi, so more people can follow along.

Q: How do you balance content creation with other aspects of your life?

Dhiraj: Initially, I thought creating reels wouldn’t take much time, but the kind of content I create does take a lot of effort. So, I work on my content during the day and handle my studies and other tasks at night. I don’t have a fix schedule or something, my schedule is very flexible. Sometimes I study during the day and work at night.

Q: How does it feel to have your own merchandise line?

Dhiraj: I was really curious about having my own merchandise line after seeing big content creators do it. Now that I have one, it’s exciting but I’m a bit skeptical about whether people will actually want to buy it, but I’m hopeful and excited to see how it goes.

Q: Which merch from your collection is your personal favourite, and why?

Dhiraj: My personal favourite is the black t-shirt with the graphics. I love black and white, and this t-shirt looks perfect, the other ones look a bit oversized, which I don’t usually wear. So, yeah, that’s why the black t-shirt with the graphics is my top pick.
